So, once again, it’s been a while.
Here’s what I want to say. 2018 and 2019 were two of the hardest years of my adult life. I have done much reflection on my intent for this blog and whether or not I want to keep it going. I’m in a different place now than I was 5 years ago – in many ways. Sometimes I don’t know how to reflect that in something called Slutty Food Blog. So I’m going to try something new for 2020. And if I can’t keep it going, then around this time next year I will archive this blog off into a cookbook.
Being a food blogger could be a full time job. I already have one of those, though, so I need to find time to do it outside of work. That’s proving to be nearly impossible, as my kid is growing and becoming more involved in activities after school, and my health has become a priority and I spend quite a bit of time in one gym or another. But one of the hardest things about being a food blogger – and one of my biggest deterrents over the past two years – has been the need to create some kind of content to go along with the recipe. You know, I don’t always have a story to share with a recipe. Not every recipe starts off with, “Way back when my husband and I first started dating…”. Sometimes, I just make something, and I like it, and I want to share it. But the thing that has kept deterring me is this industry-standard long ass blog post to go with the recipe and the picture.
Well I don’t want to do that part anymore. I am going to try just sharing a photo of the dish and the recipe. And if I have something else to say, then I’ll say it. But if I don’t, I’m not going to spin my wheels trying to come up with something like I have in the past.
So, I hope you like the new look and feel of Slutty Food Blog. A straight-to-the-recipe food blog! No more scrolling forever to the bottom of the page for the recipe!
You’re welcome.
