Bloomin’ Brie Bread

Bloomin' Brie Bread

As soon as I saw this video for //Bloomin’ Brie Bread// posted by Delish on Facebook, I had to try it.  WHO DOESN’T LOVE OOEY GOOEY OOZY CHEESE?!

Well, we were sorely disappointed in this, but it’s not a #52NewEats fail because it actually still tasted very good.

I really just think for video purposes, they did some extra things to make it oozy, but I don’t know why they didn’t relay it into the recipe.

?  First, they DO tell you to cut off the top rind.  Did that.  But then they tell you to put the mozzarella on top.  Did that, and pretty sure that contributed to the congealed shell that covered the melty Brie, and thus prevented it from looking oozy like the video.

?  Second, I have no idea how they got it to ooze out the side like that without removing the side rind as well.  If I ever try this again, I think I am removing all the rind.

Now, I won’t give total blame to the recipe or video.  I may have effed things up, but even my attempts to save it didn’t help.

?  I wrapped it in foil, because I was worried that the cheese would ooze out between the slices of bread.  After 20 minutes in the oven as instructed, it was not even halfway melted.  So we removed the foil and baked it for 10 minutes longer.

?  After the additional 10 minutes, unwrapped, we took it out and it STILL wasn’t melty inside.  We actually started to think something was wrong with the oven.  This time, I took the bread lid off, and baked for an additional 15 minutes.  This time we took it out of the oven, and the shredded cheese had formed a shell on top instead of melting down into the Brie.  Maybe if I’d left the lid on it would have done that?  Idk.

All’s I know is, the video did not accurately depict my experience with this recipe.  HOWEVER, the taste was good, but it’s hard to make Brie taste bad.  It’s an easy enough recipe to go ahead and give it a try, but just take into account my comments above!
